My Car’s Locks Don’t Work
There are few things more frustrating than being locked out of your car. You want to get into your car because you’re trying to go somewhere, but alas, you can’t open any of the doors. Be it at home or away, the last thing you want when you’re trying to go somewhere is for your car door locks to be broken. But consider all the ways you can open your car’s power locks—using a key, using the unlock button inside the car, using keyless entry, and pulling up on the knob in the door. There could be a problem with any of these mechanisms that unlocks your car door. Here are some of the reasons a car’s power lock may be broken.
Problems with the Fob
Your key fob may be the reason your car door locks aren’t working. Whether the issue is the battery (which can be solved simply by replacing the fob’s battery), or something more complex like the fob’s programming, your fob will likely need to be inspected and possibly replaced. Depending on the vehicle & warranty, the price to replace or repair your key fob will vary.
Blown Fuse
A blown fuse is evident when one of the doors on your car won’t unlock while the others will. Replacing the fuse is a quick and easy solution for this problem. It usually doesn’t cost too much money.
Wiring Issues
The wiring that connects the lock to the car’s battery is faulty or broken, it can cause your power lock not to work. If the lock isn’t getting any power, it may remain either locked or unlocked. You can test this by holding the lock switch on the inside of the car door either up or down, and opening the door to see if it locked or not.
